ARE THE REMAINS IN THE GRAVE?

Akio Terakoshi (Shouji Terakoshi’s eldest son)

The summary received from Tokyo Contact Meeting on April 14th, 2005

The origin of the incident began with the first small ship named Kiyomaru which was about 1.5 ton in size. His father, Shouji’s grave is said to be located in a city called Kusong (Tortoise Castle). This is the first time his cousin, Takeshi returned to Japan (who was abducted at the age of 13) 39 years ago and it was making a temporary visit.
He was not visiting as Takeshi Terakoshi, but as a Vice Chairman of the Labor Union role, called Kim Ei Ko from Pyongyang City. After Takeshi Terakoshi returned to North Korea, his younger sister, Masae, went to visit North Korea. When she saw the photos of the grave, she thought “The grave looks awfully new.” It looked as though he made the new grave immediately after his return, so she asked Tomoe. “Takeshi got promoted and he was embarrassed to have an old grave, so he had it rebuilt,” said Tomoe.

The tomb has my father’s birthday and the name of the dead person. Born on March 20, 1927. His death date was written March 30, 1968. However, the father’s birth date is March 31st and why is there days difference. If he were alive after the incident, he would not have mistaken his birth date. The people who may know his birth date are probably Soto or Tomoe, but they also could have misremembered his birth date. This grave was probably made by North Korea to use it as a material to disguise his death.
If his remains truly exists, I want it returned. If the North Korean Government has his remains, they should return it immediately and to Terakoshi Incident will end. We are not convinced. But, I think it will probably settle down the public opinion.
Another important thing is to remember Takeshi’s current state since the possibility of him getting killed exists. If North Korea admits to Takeshi’s abduction, Takeshi’s life will be guaranteed. The Japanese Government will need to certify Takeshi as an abduction victim and demand the North Korean government for his safety.

It was said that Shouji Terakoshi passed away due to an illness in 1968. The family received the box of remains, but it only had some red clay in it. There were no single photo taken in North Korea included with his remains. In fact, the former North Korean spy, Ahn Myung Jin testified that the man he believed to be Shouji Terakoshi was shot to death on the spot when he saw the spy ship and resisted his encounters. Ahn Myung Jin has already turned over specific information of the perpetrators names and addresses to the Japanese police.

Despite the Terakoshis were only a few hundred meters away from the beach during this operation and Takeshi said “Rescue” he was still abducted. The similar happened to Megumi Yokota’s former husband who was abducted while bathing in the sea. Kim Young Nam, also said, “Rescue” , but he was still abducted. The common thing they both seem to have is that they both said, “Rescue” .
